What can you expect?

Luxury, adventure, culture and incredible Himalayan views are generally what you can expect from the Luxury Everest Base Camp trek. This trekking package from Nobel Holidays is 16 days, inclusive of one day of guided sightseeing around Kathmandu and luxury accommodation at 4 places during the trek!

It all starts with your arrival at Nepal’s Tribhuvan Airport. After your visa clearance and exit from the airport, our Nobel Holidays team will already be waiting for you. After some formalities, we transfer you to your luxury hotel for check-in.

At the same time, you get to meet your guide during your holiday and trek as well. In the evening, a pleasant cultural show is held in a traditional Nepalese restaurant with live music and dance. A great way to start your holiday in Nepal! The next morning, after breakfast, we plan a guided sightseeing tour around Kathmandu.

Your private vehicle and English-speaking guide will be waiting at the hotel reception. We plan to visit Kathmandu’s most famous points. These include the Swayambunath Monkey Stupa, the Boudhanath Stupa, the Pashupatinath Temple and Kathmandu’s Durbar Square. This tour lets you see all aspects of Nepalese culture, including Buddhism and Hinduism. In the evening, we hold a trek preparation and safety briefing so we are ready to start the trek to Everest Base Camp.

The next day we head to the airport after breakfast and prepare for our exciting flight to Lukla. Listed as the world’s 38th highest airport, only a few selected pilots are authorized to fly here.  The scenery during the flight is absolutely amazing, and the landing is exhilarating!

After landing and meeting with our porter team, we hold a final gear check and head out to our first destination, Phakding. We follow the trail gradually downwards and follow the Dudh Koshi River through jungle terrain until reaching the bridge leading to the village.

The next day we head to Namche Bazaar, the largest Sherpa village of the region and also the last big village that we’ll encounter during the trek up to EBC. Today can be a bit strenuous as we have some steep ascents to tackle, but it is all worth it once you reach Namche Bazaar.

The trails are well maintained, and the views are breathtaking! Both Phakding and Namche Bazaar have luxury accommodation available, and we will be sure to stay at both of them. As we reach a higher elevation, it is important to look out for Acute Mountain Sickness. To prevent this, we hold an acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar before trekking further north to base camp! Today we hike up to the amazing Everest View Hotel, located at Shyangboche and at a higher elevation than Namche Bazaar; it makes for the perfect acclimatization hike.

Once we reach the Everest View Hotel, we enjoy the views of the mountains and Mt Everest from the terrace with a hot drink. We head further on our acclimatization hike through the Khumjung Valley before making our way back to Namche Bazaar. The rest of the trek goes on via Tengboche and Dingboche, where we’ll hold another acclimatization day by hiking up the Nagrjung Hill.

From here, incredible views of Mt Makalu can be seen as well. Continuing the Luxury Everest Base Camp trek, we head further north to Lobuche. Famous for its views of Mt Ama Dablam, Lobuche also has luxury accommodation available.

The last part of the Luxury Everest Base Camp trek goes to Gorakshep, the last settlement before base camp and Mt Everest. After checking in to the guesthouse and dropping off unnecessary baggage, we prepare for our hike to Everest Base Camp. It’s a short hike of about two hours over rugged terrain, as you can expect from the Himalayas. You’ll quickly notice the amazing Khumbu Glacier to your right stretching all the way out.

Before you know it, you’ll have reached base camp and can congratulate yourselves and the team for making it! After some time, we start to head back down to Gorakshep and prepare for our next day’s morning hike to Kala Pathar. We’ll leave when it’s still dark outside, so make sure that your torches are fully charged! It’ll be around 3.30 am when we wake up and get ready to hike.

Kala Pathar is located at an elevation of 5,545m/18,192ft and is said to be the best place to see views of Mt Everest. At the summit of the hill, we wait, anticipating the warm sun rising above the Himalayas. Absolutely breathtaking! We continue to enjoy the views before making our way back to Gorakshep for breakfast and departure.

The next few days we’ll spend trekking back towards Lukla, overnighting at two different locations: Pangboche and Manjo. You can participate in a celebratory feast to honor the success of your trek to Everest Base Camp at Lukla, before flying back to Kathmandu the next morning.

Back in Kathmandu, you can enjoy your last day doing some additional activities such as hiking, sightseeing, rafting, and others. To get a full plan of options, best to consult with your Nobel Holidays representative. You can also spend your last day enjoying your luxury hotel or doing some last souvenir shopping. Book today the Luxury Everest Base Camp trek of 16 incredible days in Nepal with Nobel Holidays, and travel the Himalayas in style!

Important note: as the flights to and from Lukla can get delayed due to weather circumstances, we advise booking a few additional days. To anticipate this, we already included a leisure day on day 15, but you're better off booking a few extra days. Do request this during your booking for any trek to Everest that includes flights to and from Lukla.

Frequently asked

What if I cancel the trip? Can I get my refund?+
Yes, with Nobel Holidays, you can get a full refund upon cancellation of a minimum of 14 days before your booked arrival in Nepal. If you wish to cancel your trip due to an emergency and on short notice, you’ll get a refund minus administrative costs. Furthermore, Nobel Holidays also offers the option of postponing your holiday in Nepal to another date. Do note that all changes to your booking or cancellations must be applied via email only.
What should I do if I get sick in the middle of the trek?+
Depending on your condition, getting to a lower elevation is the first rule if you are starting to feel sick. Trekkers can experience an upset stomach, or even worse, Acute Mountain Sickness if not being careful during a trek in Nepal. Nobel Holidays has basic medical kits for use during the trek to handle any small issues. In very bad conditions, you’ll need to be evacuated back to Kathmandu by rescue helicopter. Your travel insurance should cover this cost, and Nobel Holidays stays with you during the entire procedure. It's best to avoid any non-veg items at higher altitudes and be sure not to ascend too much in one day to prevent AMS.
I have never done trekking yet, can I do it?+
Yes! Even inexperienced trekkers can make it to Everest Base Camp. With well-maintained trails and expert guidance from Nobel Holidays, you can do it! In order to best enjoy this trek, we do recommend some basic fitness and stamina training 3 months prior to your departure to Nepal.
What is the luxury element during the luxury Everest Base Camp trek?+
Those who have trekked in Nepal before know that luxury is not an option in the Himalayas. Now Nobel Holidays has made a change in that by organizing the Luxury Everest Base Camp trek. You’ll be staying in top hotels in Kathmandu, and even better, during the trek there will be 4 overnight destinations with luxury accommodation! These mountain resorts offer you that part of luxury in the Himalayas during our Luxury Everest Base Camp trek.
Can I extend my trek?+
Yes, all treks with Nobel Holidays are extendable. If you need to extend your tourist Visa, Nobel Holidays offers assistance with that process, as well as organizing the extension of your trek in Nepal. You can choose to continue the trek in the same region as you already have the required permits, or come back to Kathmandu and participate in another trek or tour.
How can I use toilets during the trek?+
Toilet facilities in the Nepalese Himalayas have changed drastically over the past few years; every guesthouse sells toilet paper, and flushing systems have been improved. You’ll still have places during the trek that have a simple hole-in-the-ground toilet, but then again, what did you expect when you’re up high in the remote Himalayas!
What is a luxury Everest Base Camp trek like?+
Imagine traveling to Everest Base Camp, learning about the unique Nepalese and Sherpa culture, visiting rural and traditional towns, seeing the best parts of Kathmandu, and all while staying at fancy resorts and hotels along the trail. Even during the trek, at four locations! That’s what the Luxury Everest Base Camp trek is like. An unforgettable luxury Himalayan adventure!
